Before you swap it

  • A CR2032 is 3.2 mm thick. CR2016 and CR2025 look the same from the front, but they aren't the same cell, and a thinner one can rattle or lose contact.
  • Note which way up the old cell sits before you take it out. Fitted upside down, the key won't work at all.

Quick answers

Which battery goes in the Ford Explorer EV key (2024 on)?

One CR2032 3V lithium coin cell.

Yes. DL2032, ECR2032, KECR2032 and 5004LC are all the same cell as CR2032, sold under another name.

Will a CR2025 fit instead of a CR2032?

No. It's the same 20 mm width but 2.5 mm thick, against 3.2 mm for a CR2032. Use a CR2032.
