Before you swap it

  • CR2016 and CR2025 are the same 20 mm width as a CR2032 but a different thickness, so read the code on the old cell before you order, because a cell that's too thin can lose contact every time the fob gets knocked.
  • Note which way up the old cell sits before you take it out. Fitted upside down, the key won't work at all.

Quick answers

What battery does the Ford S-Max key (2021–2023) take?

Type 2 key (press buttons on edges to release cover): one CR2032 3V lithium coin cell. Type 1 key (push release button, key blade pulls out): one CR2450 3V lithium coin cell.

Is DL2032 the same as CR2032?

Yes. DL2032 is CR2032, and DL2450 is CR2450: same cells, other names.

Will a CR2025 fit instead of a CR2032?

No. It's the same 20 mm width but 2.5 mm thick, against 3.2 mm for a CR2032. Use a CR2032.
